00 Summary

APAC should start as an institutional credibility push, not a broad retail land grab.

t+ is selling a dense market-structure product: TEE orderbook, fast confirmation, delayed settlement, external liquidity, and matched-book leverage. The regional job is to turn that into design partners, local operating structure, and regulatory clarity.

01 Market Read

The first APAC motion should focus where institutional crypto, regulators, banks, custodians, and event density already overlap. Singapore and Hong Kong create the cleanest route to sophisticated market participants and useful objections.

MarketWhy firstWhat t+ must proveOperating move
SingaporeRegional HQ base, DPT-licensed firms, funds, MMs, counsel, custodians.Clear regulated-activity boundary, institutional onboarding, custody and margin comfort.Use as APAC operating base and first entity/licensing analysis hub.
Hong KongVA policy momentum, licensed VATPs, TradFi proximity, Chinese-speaking finance. How t+ fits VATP, dealing, custody, and tokenised product direction.Run private institutional meetings and map licensed partner paths.
KoreaDeep exchange culture and retail liquidity.Local licensing posture, Korean-language coverage, exchange relationships.Enter after SG/HK proof with local hire or partner.
JapanHigh credibility if cleared, sophisticated regulated market.Registration constraints and conservative product perimeter.Stage as a deliberate regulated-market project.
SEALarge crypto communities, founder liquidity, exchange users.Country-by-country fragmentation and lower institutional density outside SG.Use Singapore as base, run selective community and desk outreach.
02 Participant Map

The first conversations should be structured by what each participant can validate. The goal is not logo collection. It is to find where t+'s confirmation and settlement model changes behavior.

SegmentWhat they care aboutt+ hookFirst-call test
Market makersCapital drag, queue priority, cancel speed, adverse selection, settlement failure.Margin checked on match, quote/cancel priority, delayed settlement into external venues.Which pairs/products would they quote if inventory friction fell?
FundsCustody, reporting, leverage, legal recourse, counterparty risk.Prime-exchange access with a potentially better custody posture. What custody and reporting standard would unlock test size?
CustodiansAsset control, margin movement, attestations, liability.Tri-party style margin without full exchange custody. What operational control model is acceptable?
External venuesFlow quality, settlement, hedging, integration cost.Composable liquidity and delayed net settlement.Where does t+ add flow instead of competing for it?
Token issuersLiquidity, listings, market-maker support, market quality. One surface for external liquidity and cross-venue access.Which issuer category needs better initial liquidity?
03 Regulated Path

The gating question is not "which country is crypto-friendly." It is which activities t+ expects to perform locally: marketing, onboarding, exchange operation, custody, dealing, advisory, derivatives, or tokenised securities access.

Singapore

MAS lists Digital Payment Token Service firms under the payments regime. This makes Singapore useful for licensed-counterparty mapping and entity planning.

Hong Kong

SFC regulates centralised VATPs operating in or actively marketing to Hong Kong investors, and maintains licensed and applicant lists.

Korea / Japan

Both require local care. Korea has user-protection obligations for VASPs. Japan requires registration for cryptoasset exchange services.
